In chapter 6 of his letter to the Ephesians the Apostle Paul, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, writes on relational behavior, including often recalled instructions for children and fathers -

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother... Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. (v. 1, 2 and 4)

In verse 10 Paul shifts to a description of the protection to be found in the Lord's strength. Read alone, this passage feeds the Christian with the ability to withstand attacks from the enemy. But I believe, additionally, that verses 10 through 20 should continue to be read in view of the relational behavior attitudes from the first nine verses - that in order to ingest this spiritual food and realize His protection, we must have a proper relationship with the Lord.

That thought - relationship with God is foremost - is what inspires these pages. My purpose is to, through thought, Word and resource, present materials that may be helpful in understanding and internalizing the spiritual food that God has given us. I believe that as a western culture we have clouded truth and created our own, often under illusion that it is His truth also. It is our own false idols, to which we are often blind, that are our greatest obstacles in knowing Him fully. I have no self-illusions that my interpretations are without challenge, but I believe them to be of sincere intent and thought, and hope them to be from humble heart. Neither is there a promise of structural or thematic consistency, but will likely prove to be more of a collection of various message types.

If you are seeking Him, I pray that you find Him. If you are not seeking Him, I pray that you find Him. I am thankful that He knew my hiding place.
